Date: Circa 1910  Location: Spokane, WA Photographer: Unknown Railroad: Northern Pacific Railway Caption: "NP 952 Spokane Wash NPVB [meaning unknown] 952 is a K-1 0-6-0 switch engine built by Baldwin in 1881 The building in the background is the freight house at the corner of Division Street and Sprague Avenue, and still exists in 2005 The tower in the upper left center is the Great Northern/SP&S clock tower, and it also exists in 2005 The tracks in the foreground are evidence that NP's route through Spokane is still at grade. It was elevated in 1915 The lowly switch engine is all decked out in bunting, which is highly unusual for a switch engine An educated guess at this point is that 952 is on its way to some sort of ceremony marking the beginning of the grade separation project"
