Date: October 1938  Location: Glendive, MT Photographer: Ron V. Nixon Railroad: Northern Pacific Railway Caption: NP 1905, Class W-2 with train 643 on Yellowstone River bridge at Glendive MT. Ron wrote Verne Alexander: "Train No. 643 crossing Yellowstone River north of Glendive in Oct. 1938. Good sized bridge for a branch line. The 1905 was pulling 5600 tons, quite a fefty train for a W-2. A few of these engines worked out of Spokane just before the diesels."

Ron wrote Verne Alexander: "Pushing Train No. 643 out of Glendive. 643 often handled as much as 5000 tons and sometimes needed a push out of town."

Nixon Railroad: Northern Pacific Railway Caption: "Cattle by the carload are moving east during the autumn rush, and they have help across the badlands from a very big engine. Engineer Wurleman has Yellowstone 5008 eastbound. The engine, a 1930 Baldwin product, will spend most of its service life in this territory. It will be scrapped April, 1955."
