Date: May 09, 1947  Location: St. Paul, MN Photographer: Stan F. Styles Railroad: Northern Pacific Railway Caption: NP #12 2189 St Paul 5-9-47 SFS 2189 is a class Q-4 4-6-0 built by Baldwin in 1910. This appears to be a negative for which Nixon traded or which he was given. Train # 12 runs from Brainerd MN to St Paul and is the extension of train #34 that comes down from International Falls to Brainerd. The identity of photographer SFS is unknown.

The A-4's were powerful dual service locomotives. Train #4 was NP's secondary transcontinental running from Seattle to St Paul This appears to be a negative for which Nixon traded or which he was given.

The P-2 class is one of the few GN steam locomotives that did not have a Belpaire firebox. Train 4 is GN's secondary transcontinental between Seattle and St Paul.

Rebuilding older locomotives was a common GN practice.
