Stomach Worms in an Eastern Yellow-Bellied Racer from Montana

Physaloptera abjecta (Leidy 1856) is a stomach-dwelling nematode that has been reported in colubrid snakes from California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Wisconsin (Leidy 1856, Mawson 1956, Morgan 1940, 1941, 1943, Reiber et al. 1940, Waitz 1961, Goldberg and Bursey 2001, Tucker et al 2001). ln this note, we report its occurrence in an eastern yellow-bellied racer (Coluber constrictor jlaviventris) from Montana. Eastern yellow-bellied racers occur on both sides of the Continental Divide in Montana (Werner et al 2004).
