Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

All articles published in The Journal of New Research in Rural Education (JNRRE) are made openly accessible under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) license.

Provided that:

Copyright Retention
Authors retain full copyright to their work.
Upon submission and acceptance, authors grant JNRRE a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and archive the final version of the manuscript under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. Authors are free to share and archive their published work (e.g., in institutional repositories, personal websites, or course materials), provided the published version is cited appropriately.
Rights Granted to the Journal
In addition to the public rights granted under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license, authors also grant JNRRE the permission necessary to publish, disseminate, index, and preserve their work. This includes the right to:
Publish, reproduce, and distribute the article in print or digital formats;
Store and make the article available in online systems or databases;
Include associated materials such as supplementary files and metadata;
Enable indexing, text- and data-mining, and long-term preservation activities;
Use the article for non-commercial educational, archival, or promotional purposes related to the journal.
These permissions ensure that JNRRE can properly disseminate and preserve scholarly work while respecting the authors’ retained rights and the limitations of the CC BY-NC-ND license.
Artificial Intelligence, Text and Data Mining, and Archiving
To support indexing, preservation, and responsible use of digital scholarship, authors grant JNRRE the right to allow:
Text and data mining for non-commercial research and indexing;
Machine-readable processing, including the creation of searchable databases;
Use of the manuscript for training or improving non-commercial machine learning or AI systems (e.g., for discovery tools, metadata generation, accessibility enhancements);
Long-term digital preservation in repositories and archives.
These uses remain strictly within the limits of the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license—meaning no derivative works may be created and no commercial applications are permitted without additional permission from the authors.
Commercial Use and Derivatives
No commercial uses or derivative works are allowed under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. Any party seeking permission for commercial use or the creation of derivative works must request approval directly from the authors.

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.
