About the Journal
Our Mission
JNRRE aims to challenge publication bias by valuing methodological soundness over outcome significance. By publishing high-quality studies that yield null results or replicate existing research, we seek to promote a more accurate and complete scientific record, reduce research waste, and support a culture of openness and replication across all areas of education.
Scope
We welcome empirical studies from all fields of educational research—including but not limited to learning sciences, teacher education, educational psychology, curriculum studies, educational leadership, and policy—that meet high standards of methodological rigor. The journal will publish quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research. Submissions may include:
- Studies with null or unexpected findings
- Direct or conceptual replications
- Methodological reflections related to replication or reproducibility
Why Publish with JNRRE?
- Support a more complete and honest scholarly record
- Contribute to the reliability and reproducibility of educational research
- Engage with a community committed to transparency and open science
- Benefit from fair, constructive peer review focused on quality, not outcome
Call for Reviewers
JNRRE is currently seeking qualified reviewers to join our inaugural review board. We are especially interested in scholars with expertise in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods educational research who value transparency, open science, and methodological rigor. Reviewers will play a critical role in shaping a culture of fairness, clarity, and constructive feedback.
If you are interested in serving as a reviewer, please contact the editorial team at sarah.pennington2@montana.edu. Graduate students and early-career researchers are welcome to apply.
Call for Submissions
Our first call for papers will be announced in early 2026.
