Example Searching Strategies
If you want to see all the records that have either rock or stage, then search for rock stage
If you want to see all the records that have both rock and stage, then search for +rock +stage
If you want to see all the records that have the phrase rock stage, then search for "rock stage"
Valid Search Characters
AlphaNumeric Characters: A-Z and 0-9
Punctuation: Ampersand (&) Quotes ("" ') Comma (,) Period (.) Colon (:) Semicolon (;) Dash (-) Forward Slash (/) Blank ( ) Question Mark (?) Plus Sign (+) Asterisk (*)
Lowercase equivalents of alphanumeric characters are also permitted.
Searching with scientific symbols and international spellings
The publications in the MSU Research Publications Search can contain scientific symbols as well as characters used in international spellings of proper names. Try spelling the scientific term instead of using the symbols and using non-international character spellings for proper names.
