Summary of Methods: Leptich examined the effects of livestock grazing on the habitat selection of pheasants during the winter in southern Idaho. Pheasants were not found in grazed grasslands or in areas of sagebrush habitat that were grazed. The preference for ungrazed habitat suggests that grazing the understory of sagebrush negatively effects the quality of the habitat. Leptich state that cattle grazing should be removed from sagebrush and grassland habitats that are being managed for pheasants.
