Date: July 1951 Location: Spokane, WA Photographer: Ron V. Nixon Railroad: Northern Pacific Railway Caption: "The #315 is making its connection in Spokane, WA on this summer day led by Class Q-4 4-6-2 number 2222. She was built at Alco's Schenectady plant and delivered to the NP in August, 1910. Although she is is leading a less glamorous consist, she hauled the North Coast Limited out of Missoula, MT for many years and then was later assigned to haul NP #221 and #222 locals on the Rocky Mountain Division. She is famous because of her number and her association with RVN. He was the dispatcher that issued : "ORDER NO. 222. C&E NO 222. ENG. 2222 RUN 2 HOURS LATE TOWNSEND TO LOGAN DSC." She was dismantled in September 1953 at South Tacoma." |

After November 16, 1952, this train will be called the Mainstreeter." |

Nixon Railroad: Northern Pacific Railway Caption: "On this summer day in July 1951 near Spokane, this double headed train behind sisters 1810 and 1816. These W-3 class 2-8-2 heavy Mikados were the most populous type on the roster. They were well liked by their crews, performed well for the NP, but were no match for diesel. Large numbers were scrapped between 1955 and 1959." |
