The most basic, a loop that would be understood by anyone with an under the holiday tree train set, was used at the end of the Yellowstone Branch in Montana. The lead engine is a W class Mikado, one of 160 on the NP. 1529 was built by Alco in 1905. It spent 54 years on the NP." |

The second engine is a Q-3 Pacific built by Baldwin in 1909. After a 49 year career on the NP this engine will go on display at Auburn Washington. |
