Description: Elkhorn Mill, a 5-stamp mill, owned by Anton Holter (1831-1921). In 1880, 2,500 people lived in Elkhorn and in 1888 the Northern Pacific Railroad built a line that ran from Elkhorn to Boulder, Montana Territory. He was a successful pioneer. Holter St. and the Holter Museum in Helena was named after him. Vintage 7x5 in. print, 4x5 in. copy negative.
