Loss
by
Clouded heart, distant eyes,
Understanding they know not.
No longer sure of who they are
These eyes are lost.
Hopeless mind, shaking hands,
Grasp no longer, they can.
Longing for what once was held.
These hands only know sorrow.
Deceitful words, aimless steps,
Walk a path, they know not.
No longer hold a steady stride.
These legs begin to buckle.
Sullen Face, battered body,
Of themselves, no longer sure.
Lost in a maze of falsehood,
This body holds no identity.
True-again, heart restored, body anew,
Hopeless maze, far below
On mended wings, flying higher.
This body once again becomes itself.
Honest words, righted steps,
Path re-hashed, engraved in optimism.
Footfalls that resound with hope.
These steps hold their own.
Freshened mind, stable hands.
Holding steady to what they know.
Long no longer, clutch the sunshine.
These hands find happiness.
Clearing heart, Awakened eyes.
To the rescue, those who are true.
Blink away yesterday's tears.
These eyes have been found.
