Arose at 7 – Breakfast – Arrived at Chicago at 10.30 A.M. one hour late and just late enough to miss our 10.30 train [in] the Lake Shore – [Drove] to the [Andstorin] and got room to wait in until 5.30. – Carl dressed my foot Beautiful view of city and lake from room window – Lunch at the hotel – Took drive up Michigan Ave 5.30 P.M. Boarded the Lake Shore Limited from Chicago to Boston – Dinner on the train – Finest train in the country – Bed at 10.
