Webcam Location: Rocky Mountain National Park Alpine Visitor Center
Location of Park Unit: Colorado
Image Type: Primarily Natural Environment
Description: "The Alpine Visitor Center Winter Webcam is located at 11,796’. This location is inaccessible during the winter when Trail Ridge Road is closed due to deep snow and strong winds. The webcam takes three pictures each day. The temperature reading is inaccurate and at times, the view may be obscured by snow or frost. If the webcam fails, it will not be repaired until the end of May when this location is safely accessible again. The Alpine Visitor Center Winter Webcam reveals a morning, midday, and afternoon view of the Fall River canyon, Old Fall River Road, Mount Chapin, and part of Trail Ridge." Source: NPS
Note: In previous years this camera has been offline during the winter season. For 2014, it appears the camera has been moved from its normal location (the roof) to a location inside the visitor center, where it transmits a similar view.
