Item Title  The Ivan Doig Archive at MSU: A Proposal for Carol Doig Author  Arlitsch, Kenning Author  Rae, Nicol Abstract  A partnership of Montana State University Library and the College of Letters and Science proposes a perpetual commitment to care for Ivan Doig's archive and make it available to the public as quickly as possible. Guided by the principles of open access for the public and integration into MSU's teaching and research programs, our commitment honors the legacy of a prominent Montanan and one of America's greatest writers. We propose immediate digitization and posting of the collection on the Web through a searchable database, syndication to Internet search engines, and print and digital exhibitions. Longer-term plans include integration into teaching and research of the College of Letters and Science, a conference, a potential endowed professorship, and digital scholarship applications that set the stage for data analyses and visualizations. Twenty-six letters of support from local writers, leaders in the community, and university faculty and administrators were included in the the proposal to Carol Doig.
