During her childhood, Kayla began her experience with cooking and the joys of making delicious meals that everyone loved. Kayla Woodin, now Kayla Doble, born in Florida to her parents, Bob and Lisa, began cooking at the age of ten. She would cook a dinner at least once a week for her entire family. That day of the week was her favorite because she would be able to pick what she wanted to eat instead of her parents deciding what they were going to eat. Her younger brother Storm also had to cook a meal once a week, and she would help him because she enjoyed cooking so much. During the year, she and her brother would make her parents breakfast in bed on their anniversary and on their birthdays to help them celebrate their marriage and happiness with each other and their family. During the holidays she would help her mom cook the big meals for her family who would visit and watch the excitement on their faces when they bit into a delicious part of the feast. She enjoyed the holidays the most because she would get to see her closest family members gathered around the table enjoying each others' company.

The greatest memory of Kayla's childhood was making homemade chicken noodle soup because her mom made it for her when she got sick, and it always made her feel better. Being sick was not the best part of the memory, but the thought of chicken soup helping her was. Her mother told her that she learned it from her grandma because she would make it when her mom got sick. It was a family tradition passed down for a couple generations and brought the family closer together as well. She stills continues this tradition when family members become ill and need rest, and makes the chicken noodle soup in memory of her grandmother to help make them feel better.

As she's gotten older, Kayla still cooks often and enjoys the thought of making everyone happy with great food but hates the thought of cleaning a ton of dishes, as well as shopping. She says, "I am TERRIBLE at grocery shopping. When it comes to quality or health wise I am not the best at eating food that is good for me. I had a pretty well planned out diet as a kid. Not so much these days." The thought of compiling a grocery list and planning out meals for a week or two is a tough job and is a part-time job in itself. Her parents always had a dishwasher, so clean up after meals was quick and painless, but now that she doesn't have a dishwasher in the house, she attempts to use the fewest dishes possible to save some hassle afterwards. She is glad her parents taught her to cook at a young age because they helped set her up for success for cooking in the future and supporting a family of her own.
