Title: Hahn and nelson v. alpine meadows ski corporation
Proceedings: 1986 International Snow Science Workshop, Lake Tahoe, California, USA
Authors: James D. Garbolino Judge of the Superior Court
Date: 1986
Abstract: This court has been requested to rule on the applicability of the doctrine of strict liability insofar as it applies to the conduct of the defendants Alpine Meadows Ski Corporation. The questions for ultimate determination are whether the avalanche control procedures or avalanche hazards at Alpine Meadows prior to and during March 31, 1982 constituted ultra-hazardous activities which were the proximate cause of the deaths to David Hahn, Laura Nelson, and Dr. Leroy Nelson. For the reasons stated herein, defendant's motion for non-suit on strict liability issues is granted.
