Abstract: Since the 1981-82 ski season the Bridger Bowl ski patrol has been experimenting with aerial detonation of explosives for regular avalanche control work. Over the years a lot of ''bomb wires" and accompanying contraptions have been installed, modified, and remodified for hanging bombs above the snow. Some have worked better than others. Three particular devices which have resulted from this experimentation and are routinely used for avalanche control work today are discussed along with some reasons why we use aerial detonation on a regular basis.
