Abstract: In an attempt to identify the most critical meteorological parameters influencing the temporal behavior of avalanche release in a continental snowpack, we analyze a nineteen-year chronological record of meteorological measurements and avalanche occurrence at Berthoud Pass, Colorado, in a classification tree approach.
