Abstract: The problem of successfully predicting snowfall amounts in mountainous areas has always presented difficulties. One of the primary difficulties is due to the actual variability of snowfall over relatively small geographic expanses, as well as over small vertical separations. This variability can be directly related to the complexities of the terrain.
