Abstract: Due to an unexplained shift during its construction project in contrast to the avalanche recommendations, The Arcelle chairlift was impacted several times by major avalanches in recent years. A posteriori protection solution based mainly on braking mounds was then developed which has been naturally and positively tested during the Eleanor storm at the beginning of 2018.
