Abstract: When ski resorts are subjected to snow-creeping on slopes above open ski runs, they have to face major questions when cracks appear: will the phenomenon accelerate? Can it become a dangerous avalanche situation? And so, is it necessary to close the threatened sector ... but when? The GLISMO project (GLIding Snow Monitoring) is born from these observations, emitted by different avalanche safety managers in the Alps.Two main goals are established: First, to better understand the evolution of the phenomenon in order to evaluate crucial condition periods, Secondly to develop new possible optimized mitigation measures as alternatives to supporting structures which are not always adapted to ski areas (costs, esthetics, obstacles for (off-piste) skiers)
