Abstract: Every winter, mountain practitioners are directly confronted with the question of avalanches. During the 2011-2012 season, 32 avalanche accidents and 14 deaths were recorded in France by ANENA. Many decision support tools exist to assist the ski-tourers faced to this risk. Among these tools, methods of risk reduction must go through a consultation of the avalanche risk report from Météo France giving an estimate of the risk of avalanches across a massif. In addition to these tools, very few studies have been published on the behaviour of ski-tourers. Yet human factors play an important role in the decisions taken on the field. This article presents some results of a survey on the management of the avalanche risk for ski-tourers.
